The world’s oldest bottle of wine dates back to A.D. 325 and was found near the town of Speyer, Germany, inside one of two Roman sarcophaguses.

It’s hard to forget the friendly face behind the bar when it happens to be the one affectionately dubbed “Face” by friends and colleagues since back in the day when the 20+ year local was on staff at Sweet Basil. And while he’s got an appreciation for all things food and drink – and plenty of knowledge to share with anyone who happens to belly up to the bar – don’t ask him to pick between his two loves, tequila and whiskey (“It’s a polyamorous thing!” he says).
